For the more experience NBA fan Larry Nance, Dominique Wilkins, -The human highlight Film- Jordan!, Kenny ‘The Sky’ Walker, and even Dee Brown with his Reeboks Pumps aren’t walking through those NBA Slam Dunk doors anytime soon. With the recent announcement of this year’s Sprite Slam Dunk contestants I can honestly say that not even Blake Griffin (Los Angeles Clippers) will save this, lackluster event. I wish Brandon Jennings (Milwaukee Bucks), my hometown point guard all the luck with his hurt ankle and all! JaVale McGee (Washington Wizards) and Serge Ibaka (Oklahoma City Thunders) will all be first time contestants.
The NBA All Star weekend is a time for the league to showcase their bright young stars however; the fan favorite’s guys like Kobe, LeBron, and Wade often do without the Dunk contest and transform more to fans their selves. Therefore, we are left with the “extra” curriculum activities such as Superman and Lex Luthor dunk-off which eliminates the true art of the dunking. For those who never seen these four first timers view their dunking clips…
...and that's what the NBA has to offer. When the NBA All-Star weekend is over I hope the Dunk contest will still be around, come on Kobe...LeBron...Wade we're asking for a few dunks!
