The future of the Milwaukee Bucks is...
...Unfortunately,
not Scott Skiles
This was the year
to expect great things from the Milwaukee Bucks. Having a full season with the lighting quick back-court of (Brandon) Jennings and (Monta) Ellis, and a better cast of big men
guiding the paint I was looking forward to Scott Skiles coaching them. Well with coach Skiles being fired it will
take the players to band together more than ever before. Skiles after 5-years only managed a record of
162-182 which wasn't nearly close enough for this franchise. It’s said that change is good. Hopefully, this is the change the Bucks need
to jump-start their playoff run and to a brighter tomorrow.
Since there
hasn't been a major snow storm this year in Milwaukee, as of yet, could this be
the storm Bucks fans are afraid of? Where
Jennings doesn't sign an extension and leaves to become a free agent, Monta
Ellis also moves on since he has a player option and worst of all current owner
Herb Kohl sells the team and Milwaukee is no longer home of the Bucks’.
I'm optimistic on
the brighter future the Bucks’ can have.
Here is what I believe should happen:
First and
foremost sign Brandon Jennings to a long-term contract. By doing so it secures a young star for the
future, and the fans can identify him as their franchise player. He seems very
loyal to this city and is a perfect center piece to build a franchise around. Add a solid wing-player and a consistent post-player
then brighter days’ are ahead. Milwaukee
is not the first, second, nor third option for most NBA players to come and
play here. However in Jennings I think
we have a guy who really doesn’t mind making it cool here.
A new arena is a
MUST! What’s the phrase “if you build it they will come” well build away. Look at what a new stadium did for the
development and success of the Milwaukee Brewers on and off the field. A new arena will create and bring excitement
to the city. Having a state of the art arena
would allow a stronger sale for bring more entertainment acts to Milwaukee
which ultimately creates more revenue for the city. Not to mention a greater possibility of hosting
the NBA All-Star game.
A new Owner,
maybe billionaire Michael Heisley from Chicago, who notice there is something unique
here in Milwaukee if give the proper attention.
Heisley former owner of the Memphis Grizzlies was willing to spend money
while creating a winning atmosphere.
Just what this franchise needs!
I look at
franchises like Memphis, Oklahoma City, or Indiana as the blue print on how to
be successful in a "small market".
Skiles might be
gone, but if the correct moves are made the future of the Milwaukee Bucks can
be bright once again one win at a time.

DREAMS SPORTS NFL 2012 Awards
When was the last
time the National Football League seen a season like this one? Were two
players, Peyton Manning and Adrian Peterson, bounce back from neck surgeries
and knee injury respectfully, and now are the front runners for MVP and Come
Back Player of the Year? Never! What
about the battle of Rookie of the Year coming down to three quarterbacks who
all have their teams in the playoffs. Never!
How about a head coach who had a battle with Leukemia, but his assistance coach
stepped in and did an outstanding job and now the Indianapolis Colts are in the
playoffs? Never! So there shouldn't be
surprises with this year NFL Awards.
MVP-Peyton
Manning
Who really knew Manning
would make the Denver Broncos legitimate contenders this year? Everything was in question about Manning from
his arm strength; durability, to his mentally stability. After their lost start (2-3) I’m sure Broncos
fans were looking for Tebow to return.
Well, like that Chris Brown song “Look at me now” Manning has the
Broncos a mile high on top of the AFC Conference and prime for a strong playoff
run.
Comeback
Player Of The Year-Adrian Peterson
Ask any person who has ever
injured their ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) how difficult it is to bounce
back to 100%. Okay now ask a NFL runner-back
to rush for 2,097 yards, missing the all-time record by nine yards, after
having ACL surgery. Adrian Peterson did
just that. Any other season he would
have won MVP, without question, with those numbers. Peterson season will never be forgotten. The Minnesota Vikings are in the playoffs
because of his amazing comeback this year.
Rookie
Of The Year-Robert Griffin III (RG3)
No I didn’t vote for him
solely on his last name, although it helps.
Griffin III as a rookie was fourth in quarterback passing rating. Lead
the Washington Redskins on a number of fourth quarter comebacks. His exciting play week in and week out had
you tuning into the Redskins games once again. His leadership skills are immeasurable. Griffin III took on the rude and insensitive
comments by ESPN Rob Parker calling him a ‘cornball brother’, too fans wanting
Kirk Cousins to be the starter. Through
it all RG3 remained professional and a true winner!
Coach
Of The Year-Bruce Arians
There could have been a few
winners this year for Coach of The Year.
Leslie Frazier in Minnesota thanks to (Adrian) Peterson; Mike Shannahan
in Washington for changing his system to allow RG3 the most opportunity for success;
however I went with Bruce Arians of Indianapolis. Arians keep one of the youngest teams
together, lead by a rookie QB (Andrew) Luck, not to mention that Head Coach
Chuck Pagano battle Leukemia.

Kevin Durant’s early exit
Wait, Kevin Durant of Oklahoma City Thunder was WHAT?!? He was ejected from an NBA game for the first time in his career. Annoyed with the performance of his teammates and losing to Brooklyn Nets Durant was given two technical’s, which ejected him from the game. Check out the clip.

2012 Reasons You Love Sports This Year...Ok Maybe Not...
Sports are here to interrupt
our daily headaches of life right? This
year we were witness to some horrible travesties (Hurricane Sandy, the shooting
at Sandy Hook, Connecticut and Aurora, Colorado) so I turned to sports to take
my heartaches away from it all. This
year sports have brought us some exciting highs and some unexpected lows. With a New Year just up the block I looked
back at the year it was in sports...achievements and misfortunes.
National
Basketball Association:
LeBron James can finally
call himself “King” and have true meaning behind it. Winning the National
Basketball Association title was all it took. After all the Player Association and the NBA
Owners labor negotiations, which carried on for 149-days, we finally had
basketball. James and (Dwyane) Wade
along with the rest of the Miami Heat players made it a season to remember. Not only did James win the NBA title but along
the way he managed to grab the MVP Award, A Finals MVP Award and an Olympic
Gold Medal. Now he has just a few more
NBA Titles to get...not just one, not two, not three...
Harvard graduates often go
on to do noteworthy things in life. Athletics making a splash in professional
sports hasn't been one of those things that often. So when Jeremy Lin made a splash in the NBA
it was a major story. Not because he was
solely from Harvard but, his performance spoke volumes. Lin put up at least 20-points in eight straight
games, including a 38-point outburst against Kobe and the Lakers. Lin now playing for the Houston Rockets will
forever be the guy who created insanity (“Linsanity” that is).
College
Football:
The glory days of college
football returned this year. Remember when
Notre Dame ruled the world of college football? Well the legendary program made
a supreme comeback this year. Going
undefeated and now playing for their first National Title in over two decades. The Fighting Irish haven’t won a National
Title since 1988. Win or Lose the
Fighting Irish has fought their way back to being relevant in college football.
Penn State and the scandal,
Need I say more.
National
Football League:
This year the season kicked
off with a lockout of a different fashion.
The NFL referees held out over labor dispute. While the regular referees were in the
boardrooms the “Replacement referees” couldn’t be replaced fast enough. It appeared that the NFL and the Referees
were nowhere near reaching a new labor agreement. However, when the Monday Night game in Week 3
where the Packers vs. the Seahawks last second Hail Mary called was miscalled they
reached a new collective bargaining agreement in a few days.
I can’t forget about the “bounty program” where the New Orleans
Saints players were awarded cash for taking certain opponent key players out. Several suspensions were handed out. Sean Payton, head coach, suspended for the
entire season, Defensive coach Gregg Williams out indefinitely from
professional football, and Saints General Manager, Mickey Loomis, suspended for
half of the season. A host of Saints
players were give suspensions also.
Olympics:
Gabby Douglas, Missy
Franklin, and Michael Phelps enough said. GO USA!
Major
League Baseball:
San Francisco Giants are
giants once again after winning the World Series for the second time in three
years. Having superstar closer Brian
Wilson gone for the season, and key slugger Melky Cabrera suspended for
performance enhancing drugs no one had the Giants winning it all.
Cycling:
Some would say the greatest
professional cyclist in the world, while others might call him the biggest lair
in the universal. Beating his only
personal battle with Cancer while raising millions Lance Armstrong became the
face of cycling. After winning a record seven Tour de France titles Armstrong
was banned from the world of Cycling and stripped of those titles by the U.S.
Anti-Doping Agency. They found him guilty
for using a banned substance which 12 witnesses provide evidence against Armstrong. One of the most touching and inspirational
sports stories reached the finish line when it broke back in August.
